My Work
The work found me long before I found the words to describe it.
For years, I believed I was building a career in strategic communications. Working alongside entrepreneurs, executives, nonprofit leaders, entertainers, organizations and emerging leaders eventually revealed something deeper.
People rarely needed someone to tell them what to do. They needed someone to help them recognize what they had stopped believing about themselves.
That realization transformed the way I viewed my work. Communication, visibility, leadership and growth remained important — but they became vehicles for helping people move with greater clarity, confidence, credibility and purpose.
The Work Found Me
In 2000, I started Platinum Star Public Relations, Inc. with one clear intention: to amplify voices that deserved to be heard but were too often left out of the conversation.
I mapped out the people I wanted to serve — people with powerful stories, emerging leaders, game-changers, artists, nonprofits and businesses rooted in purpose. I was not interested in visibility for visibility’s sake. The deeper work was helping people build credibility, communicate value and create opportunities capable of extending their influence.
Over time, the work became bigger than media coverage. Visibility became a bridge. Communication became a tool for confidence. Strategy became a way to move purpose into action.
Credibility → Visibility → Opportunity → Legacy
From Message to Platform
Recognize the experience, expertise, perspective and purpose already present in your story — the things that make your voice worth hearing.
Translate that value into communication people can understand, trust and connect with — building confidence, credibility and influence.
Turn clarity and visibility into opportunities to lead, speak, publish, teach, build, advocate and serve.
One Philosophy. Many Expressions.
Transform Goals to Greatness™ is the philosophy that connects the work. The expression changes according to the person, organization, opportunity or community in front of me.
Helping leaders clarify direction, strengthen communication, navigate growth and lead with greater purpose and humanity.
Keynotes, interviews, panels and conversations designed to move audiences from inspiration into reflection, decision and meaningful action.
Helping accomplished professionals and purpose-driven organizations communicate their value with clarity, credibility and intention.
Using books, articles, plays, screenwriting and media to extend conversations far beyond a single room.
Sharing experience through universities, classrooms, leadership development and mentorship so knowledge becomes opportunity for the next generation.
Using advocacy, civic leadership, collaboration and storytelling to strengthen communities and amplify voices too often overlooked.
The Work in Motion
From media platforms and live events to community initiatives and global collaborations, the work takes different forms — but the purpose remains the same: use visibility to create connection, opportunity and impact.
This Channel 4 News appearance offers a glimpse of that work in real time — communicating an event, creating awareness and helping a larger audience understand why the moment matters.
Building Platforms With Purpose
2000
Founded to amplify overlooked voices and help people build credibility, visibility and lasting influence. The work reinforced a lesson that still guides me: visibility has the greatest value when it is connected to purpose.
2016
Created as the work expanded beyond traditional public relations into film, digital media, social platforms, live events, campaigns and experiences.
“I wasn’t just promoting stories anymore. I was helping to create them.”
Experience
Another business expression within Dr. Marie’s professional experience — part of the communications and visibility work that helped shape the broader Transform Goals to Greatness™ philosophy.
These businesses have their own identities and services. On Transform Goals to Greatness™, they appear as part of the professional experience that shaped the philosophy — not as the center of the platform.
How I Work
Real connections have always mattered more to me than chasing numbers. Trust grows when people feel seen, heard and supported.
I stay intentional about the people, projects and collaborations I accept. Alignment matters because credibility is built over time.
People and organizations need to be visible enough for opportunity to understand them — but visibility should communicate something meaningful.
Attention is not the destination. The deeper question is what that attention makes possible for the people and communities connected to the work.
“People refer me because I make them feel seen, heard and supported.”
From Business to Service
Community leadership has always been part of the same philosophy. Over the years, that service has included advocacy and initiatives supporting women and girls, people experiencing homelessness, veterans, racial justice, survivors of domestic violence and individuals rebuilding their lives.
That commitment was recognized when I received the Volunteer of the Year honor at the San Fernando Valley Business Journal’s annual Women’s Council — recognition connected to a long record of community-based projects and causes.
The recognition matters. But the service came first.
Community Impact
Amplifying the Impact
In 2024, I founded Angel City Salute Alliance, a nonprofit created to spotlight people doing transformative work throughout Los Angeles County.
The idea reflects something I have come to believe deeply: service is not simply about helping people in a single moment. It is also about restoring visibility, dignity and access to opportunity.
Whether the work involves people rebuilding after incarceration, survivors seeking resources, community advocates or individuals whose contributions deserve greater recognition, the goal is to make impact more visible — and more possible.
From Local Impact to Global Responsibility
My international work has reinforced an important truth: geography may change the circumstances surrounding people’s lives, but ambition, dignity, hope and the desire to create a better future need very little translation.
Through international advocacy and cultural collaboration connected to Ghana, the DreamChild Foundation, pediatric-clinic fundraising goals and the Hoodtalk Music Festival, I have seen how business, storytelling, music, activism and community can come together around a shared purpose.
The title or stage is never the final point. What matters is what the platform allows us to build, fund, strengthen or make possible for someone else.
Storytelling as Work
A conversation should not have to end simply because the room empties. Books, plays, film and media allow ideas to reach people I may never have the opportunity to meet personally.
Secrets from the Streets grew from the belief that enduring wisdom is often discovered in ordinary places. I Am Not My Illness continues the commitment to helping real people tell stories that affirm possibility beyond circumstance.
Screenwriting, playwriting and media production create another pathway for stories about resilience, unity, leadership and community to reach wider audiences.
Articles, interviews, conversations and educational content allow experience to become something useful — knowledge another person can apply to their own next chapter.
A Conversation Found Its Audience
“They were responding to something they recognized within themselves.”
The Turning Point
An unexpected conversation with The School of Hard Knocks reached people far beyond the room where it was recorded. Messages arrived from people reconsidering businesses they had postponed, returning to school, questioning careers that no longer reflected who they had become and sharing the conversation with their children.
The most important realization was that people were not simply responding to me. The conversation had become a mirror — reflecting possibilities they had quietly buried beneath responsibility, disappointment or fear.
Discover My WayWhat the Work Is Really For
The entrepreneur who finally moves an idea out of a notebook and into the marketplace.
The executive who recognizes that the next chapter requires a different kind of leadership.
The student who begins seeing a future that once felt beyond reach.
The parent who decides the example they leave matters as much as the success they achieve.
If a reader closes one of my books with a renewed sense of possibility, the work has served its purpose. If someone leaves an audience believing they are capable of more than they believed when they entered the room, the conversation continues long after the applause.
And if a leader returns to an organization determined to elevate the people around them instead of simply managing them, the ripple effect extends far beyond anything I could accomplish alone.
The Ripple Effect
reveals direction.
builds confidence.
creates momentum.
creates opportunity.
multiplies what was learned.
